Brea alternatives: an honest comparison from the team that builds Brea

Looking for Brea AI alternatives? We compare Brea, the free AI assistant you text in iMessage, with Poke, Pally, Arlo, Carly, Martin and Meta Muse, including where each one beats us.

We're the founders of Brea, and we noticed something odd: when you search for "Brea alternatives", the top results are written by our competitors. That's fair game, but we think you should hear from us too. Here's what Brea is, who should use something else, and what those other options cost. Prices come from each company's own pricing page, checked November 3, 2026.

What Brea is

Brea is an AI assistant you text in iMessage. You ask for something the way you'd ask a person, and Brea goes and does it: replies to email, books appointments, watches prices, sets up a weekly report, buys the thing you approved.

A few things set it apart:

  • It connects to more than 2,000 apps (Gmail, Outlook, Google Calendar, Drive, Notion, Slack, Dropbox and more), and when a site has no integration it uses its own browser to get the job done.
  • It asks before anything important. Before it sends, deletes, shares or changes a setting, you get a text and reply allow, always or deny.
  • Payments happen only after you approve them in Link by Stripe, with a new one-time card for each purchase.
  • Your site logins sit in an encrypted vault the AI never sees. Brea passed Google's CASA Tier 2 assessment and never trains on your data (security).
  • It's free, with every feature included and no credit card.

Brea is made by Brea AI LLC. We're not the AI receptionist that answers business calls, and we're not Bria, the image company, even though the names are close.

When you should pick something else

We'd rather you end up with the right tool. These are the honest reasons to look elsewhere:

  • You use Android. Brea runs in iMessage only. Pally (RCS, WhatsApp, Telegram), Arlo (SMS, WhatsApp) and Meta Muse (WhatsApp) work without an iPhone.
  • You need the assistant to make phone calls today. Brea can't place calls yet, though that's coming soon. Pally, Arlo and Martin do it now.
  • Your work happens in Slack with a team. Lindy and Arlo are built around shared Slack teammates. Brea is a personal agent.
  • You want it to act without asking. Brea checks with you before sending, deleting, sharing or paying. You can reply "always" for actions you trust, but if you want zero confirmations by default, Brea will feel careful.

The alternatives, compared

Poke

Poke is a proactive texting assistant, now owned by Cognition. Free, Pro $19/mo, Ultra $199/mo (pricing). Strong on personality and email, calendar and app automations. Poke's site doesn't say its AI completes tasks on any website; errands like reservations and orders go to a human operator on the $199 Ultra plan. With Brea, browsing, bookings and approved purchases are part of the free plan.

Pally

Pally works over iMessage, RCS, WhatsApp and Telegram, makes calls, and does bookings and purchases. Free, with a weekly usage limit (pricing). The closest match to Brea on doing real tasks, and the better pick if you need WhatsApp or calls today.

Arlo

Arlo texts over iMessage, SMS and WhatsApp, browses with your logins and makes calls, and is increasingly pitched as a Slack teammate for companies. Free with $20 of usage, Plus $20/mo, Max $100/mo, calls billed per minute (pricing). Brea is free without usage-metered billing to track.

Carly

Carly is email first, with SMS and Slack, workflows and a CRM. Free for 10 workflows, Personal $35/mo for 200 credits (pricing). Good for email-heavy professionals. It isn't built for iMessage and doesn't have a phone app.

Martin

Martin is voice first and works over SMS, phone, WhatsApp, email and Slack. No free plan; from $21/mo billed yearly or $35 monthly (pricing). No iMessage.

Meta Muse

Muse is Meta's agent, with a cloud browser and purchases through Link. It works in WhatsApp, its app and on the web. Free with limits, Power $20/mo, Maximum $100/mo, and TechCrunch reports a card is required to start. Pick it if WhatsApp is home and you're comfortable giving Meta access to your email and payments.
